Effective Date: May 8, 2026
At Larder Audit, we believe that transparency shouldn't just apply to food labels—it should apply to your data as well. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, protect, and utilize the information you share with us, specifically regarding your personalized ingredient avoidance lists.
1. Information We Collect
To provide a personalized experience on LarderAudit.com, we collect two primary types of information:
- Account Data: When you register, we collect basic identifiers such as your name and email address.
- Preference Data (Ingredient Avoidance Lists): This is the core of your user experience. We store the specific ingredients, additives, or categories you have flagged for avoidance (e.g., "Avoidance: High-Fructose Corn Syrup" or "Sensitivity: Polysorbate 80").
2. How We Use Your Ingredient Avoidance Lists
Your avoidance lists are used strictly for Functional Personalization. We use this data to:
- Cross-reference your preferences against our ingredient database to provide instant "Pass/Fail" results on product audits.
- Notify you if a product you follow has changed its formulation to include a flagged ingredient.
- Anonymize and aggregate data to identify broader consumer trends (e.g., "30% of Larder Audit users are currently avoiding Sunflower Oil"), which helps us prioritize which products to audit next.
Privacy Guarantee: We do not sell your individual preference data or avoidance lists to third-party food manufacturers or marketing firms.
3. Data Security & Protection
We treat your health-related preferences with the same rigor we apply to our scientific audits. Our security framework includes:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is protected using SSL/TLS encryption. Your stored preference data is encrypted at rest.
- Access Control: Access to our database is strictly limited to essential personnel required for site maintenance and is protected by multi-factor authentication.
- Data Minimization: We only store the data necessary to provide our services. If you delete an ingredient from your avoidance list, it is purged from our active records.
4. Third-Party Sharing
Larder Audit does not share your personal avoidance lists with third parties, with the following exceptions:
- Service Providers: We may use trusted third-party hosting or email services to operate the Site; these partners are contractually obligated to keep your data confidential.
- Affiliate Partners: If you click an affiliate link to purchase a product, the destination site may collect their own data according to their privacy policy. Larder Audit does not pass your avoidance lists to these merchants.
5. User Controls and Data Rights
You are the sole owner of your dietary data. Within your account settings, you can:
- Edit or Delete: Modify your ingredient avoidance lists at any time.
- Export: Request a copy of your stored data in a machine-readable format.
- Account Termination: Delete your account entirely. Upon termination, we will delete all personally identifiable information associated with your account within 30 days.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your site preferences. We use anonymized analytics to understand how users navigate the wiki. We do not use "cross-site" tracking cookies that follow you to other areas of the web.
7. Changes to This Policy
As Larder Audit evolves, we may update this policy. We will notify you of any significant changes via the email address on file or through a prominent notice on our homepage.
